RALEIGH, N.C. – A quartet of distance runners from the Yale women's track and field team competed on Friday at the Raleigh Relays.
Senior
Linde Fonville ran a 4:26.54 in the 1500m, 2.49 seconds off her PR. McKenna Keegan, a seven-time All-American at Villanova who was running unattached, placed first with a time of 4:08.29.
First-year
Phoebe Benun and sophomore
Zoe Martonfi competed in the 3000m steeplechase. Martonfi's time of 10:38.76 was a personal best; she ranks 10th on Yale's all-time list. Benun (10:43.00) was fourth in her section. Texas A&M's Debora Cherono, an All-American in this event last year, placed first with a time of 9:56.45.
Senior
Charlotte Whitehurst wrapped up the day with a personal-best time of 34:22.62 in the 10,000m Friday night. She moves into fifth on Yale's all-time list.
The Raleigh Relays is a large meet with dozens of schools from throughout the country represented, including Yale's Ivy rivals Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard and Penn. The meet spans three days, though the Bulldog women will only compete Friday.
On Saturday the Bulldogs will compete at the UMass Flagship opener.
