NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's track and field team has earned All-Academic Team recognition from the USTFCCCA for 2025-26, and five Bulldogs have earned All-Academic Athlete honors. The USTFCCCA announced the awards today.
Yale's individual honorees were:
In order for a team to be named to the All-Academic list, it must have a grade point average above 3.00 for the season. The Bulldogs finished with a GPA of 3.69.
For an athlete to receive individual honors, for the indoor season they must either have finished ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event; for the outdoor season they must have competed in any round of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships or, for the multi-events, they must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West. They must also have completed at least two semesters or three quarters while maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA.
Brian Di Bassinga
Di Bassinga, a computer science major, earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition for the fourth year in a row. This past season he posted the second-best triple jump mark outdoors in Yale history with his mark of 15.29m at the Mark Young Invitational. He already had the second-best triple jump mark indoors in Yale history (15.29m, 2024).
Di Bassinga is a graduate of Battlefield High School.
Andrew Farr
Farr, a psychology major, has earned multiple academic honors this season. He was a CSC Academic All-District honoree and was named Academic All-Ivy League for the indoor track and field season. He earned the team's Lee Calhoun Award as the most outstanding member of the sprints and hurdles event group and he also earned the team's Most Improved Athlete Award. Farr posted the second-best 60m time in school history indoors (6.69 to win at the Yale Season Opener). He was part of the school record-setting 4x400 meter relay (3:09.34) and the second-best 4x100 meter relay in school history (40.51) at the Ivy League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Farr was Yale's captain for the 2025-26 season. He is a graduate of Gorham High School.
Owen Karas
Karas, a psychology major, has earned All-Academic Athlete in track and field for the last three seasons. This year, his other academic honors include his second straight CSC Academic All-America selection (second team) along with being named Academic All-Ivy League for cross country. He earned the cross country team's John Cleary '54, Mike Stanley '54 Award as MVP and earned the track and field team's James Stack '61 Award (MVP) and Outstanding Middle-Distance Runner Award (second year in a row for both awards). He was first team All-Ivy League in cross country following his third-place finish at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships, where his time of 24:15.8 bested the previous school Heps record for Van Cortlandt Park set in 1981 by
Andrew Atkeson '83 (24:19.1).
Karas qualified for the NCAA Championships in cross country and qualified for the NCAA East First Round in outdoor track and field (5K).
In track and field this past year, Karas set a pair of school records:
- 5K indoors (13:51.46)
- 5K outdoors (13:47.74)
He graduated with three other school records as well, all set in 2025:
- 1500m outdoors (3:37.52)
- Mile indoors (3:58.37)
- 3K indoors (7:51.68)
Karas is a graduate of St. Charles.
Nathan Lebowitz
Lebowitz, a political science major, has earned All-Academic Athlete in track and field for the last two seasons. He qualified for the NCAA East First Round in the discus throw outdoors for the second year in a row. His throw of 54.71m at the Ivy League Outdoor Track and Field Championships ranks fifth all-time at Yale. He won the discus throw at the Mark Young Invitational (52.83m) and the UConn Dog Fight (52.77m) outdoors.
Lebowitz is a graduate of Ponte Vedra High School.
Nolan Recker
Recker, an economics major, earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition for the third year in a row. This year he also was a CSC Academic All-District pick.
Recker set the school record and ranked No. 2 in the Northeast Region in the weight throw indoors (21.04m). Outdoors, he ranked No. 6 regionally in the discus throw (52.20m) and No. 10 regionally in the hammer throw (62.59m, No. 2 all-time at Yale). He competed at the NCAA East First Round in the hammer throw. Recker earned the team's Outstanding Thrower Award for the second year in a row. He earned bronze in the weight throw at the Ivy indoor championships.
Recker is a graduate of Muscatine High School.
