NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Alex Mader (San Francisco, Calif.) of the Yale men's track and field team's Class of 2026 was named Academic All-Ivy League on Tuesday as the league announced its annual awards for the outdoor season.
 
Mader posted the 10th fastest 10K time in school history this past season, running a 29:56.16 at Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic on Apr. 11. He competed at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships three times in his career, with a top finish of 13th in the 5000m in 2025.
 
Mader earned a B.S. in physics (intensive) from Yale. He worked as an undergraduate researcher in computational physics, machine learning and simulations for biophysics applications. In 2024 he was a research assistant at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, Calif., working on matter in extreme conditions. He has also worked for the software development companies Anysphere and Traversal. 
 
Mader is a graduate of Lick-Wilmerding High School.
