NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team honored four players with team awards for the 2025-26 season:
- Senior guard Kiley Capstraw (West Orange, N.J.) won the Leadership Award.
- Sophomore guard Marisa Chapman (Middletown, N.Y.) won the Karen Yarasavage Bulldog Award.
- Sophomore guard Ciniya Moore (Bradenton, Fla.) won the Most Improved Award.
- Sophomore guard Magdalena Schmidt (Gmunden, Austria) won a new award, the Impact Player Award, for her work in the community.
Here is a look at Yale's honorees:
Kiley Capstraw
Capstraw, Yale's captain, led Yale in assists for the second consecutive season with a career-high 98 (3.9 per game, second in the Ivy League). She was sixth in the league in rebounding (6.5 rebounds per game) and assist/turnover ratio (1.2). She had a pair of double-doubles and started 25 games.
Capstraw is a graduate of West Orange High.
Marisa Chapman
Chapman was third on the team in rebounding (5.5 per game) for the second straight season. She was also third on the team in assists (55). She appeared in all 27 games, starting three – both career highs.
Chapman is a graduate of the Storm King School.
Ciniya Moore
Moore enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that culminated with her earning honorable mention All-Ivy League – making her one of only two sophomores to earn 2025-26 All-Ivy honors. She was second in the league in free throw percentage (.871), third in the league in scoring (17.4 points per game) and tied for sixth in the league in three pointers per game (1.6). She started all 27 games and ended the season with a streak of 15 straight made free throws.
Moore is a graduate of IMG Academy.
Magdalena Schmidt
Schmidt appeared in 10 games, starting three. Capable of providing instant offense with her three-point shooting, she scored nine points in just 16 minutes against Loyola. Schmidt was also instrumental in the team's community service activities, including working with Team IMPACT – an organization that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved.
Schmidt is a graduate of BG BRG Gmunden and Ballsportgymnasium Wien.
