Bulldogs Down Army, Pick Up First Victory of Season

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sophomore Nathan Harmon and junior Salif Leintu each scored in the second half to lift the Yale men's soccer team to a 2-0 road victory over Army on Monday evening in West Point, N.Y. The Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season and overcame an early road test.

With the victory, Yale improved to 1-1 overall. The Bulldogs handed the Black Knights their first loss of the season. Army dropped to 1-1-2 overall.

"This was a great result against a good Army team," said Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "I'm very proud of the entire group. It's not easy to rebound from the tough loss on Friday and to put that behind us."

"We didn't have a great first half tonight, but we still did what was needed to get to half 0-0 and then make a couple of adjustments," Stannard said. "I thought our second half showed a good balance of being tough and disciplined defensively, but also finding some great moments to be on the ball for longer spells and control more territory."
