NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's cross country team is coming off back-to-back finishes in the top five at NCAA Northeast Regionals for the first time since 2003-04. Three of Yale's top six finishers from 2025 Regionals are back, giving the Bulldogs reason to believe they can keep the positive trend going.
The Bulldogs have cracked the top four at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships twice in the last three years, and last year's Heps point total (98) was their second-best since 2015 (75).
This is Yale's third season with
Courtney Jaworski as the team's Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field and with
Kyle Basista as the team's head coach of men's cross country, assistant coach of men's track and field.
Laura Broderick returns for her third season as an assistant coach.
The team kicks off the 2026 campaign Friday at Providence's Friar Invitational.
Here is a look at the Bulldogs:
Seniors (9)
Cutter, Yale's captain, finished among Yale's top three in all five races last year. That included placing third on the team at Heps and NCAA Regionals. He has competed in Regionals in each of the last two seasons. He brings PRs of 24:00.7 (8K) and 30:24.2 (10K) into the season.
Stevens made his cross country debut last season, competing in three races. Gamble has competed in three meets over the past two seasons, including a pair last year. Seidman competed in a pair of meets in 2024. Luff has experience competing at Heps, where he was ninth among the Bulldogs in 2024.
Diaz and Fields each appeared in one race last season. Montini has competed in one career cross country meet. Bravo, primarily a middle-distance runner, has a 1500m college best of 4:10.32.
Juniors (7)
Cohen finished among Yale's top seven in all five races last year, and his best finish on the team (fourth) came at NCAA Regionals.
Sutch ran four races last year, placing sixth on the team at the Iona Meet of Champions. Schutzbank ran three races last season, finishing among the team's top seven at the Paul Short Run.
Hom and Murray competed in a pair of meets in 2024. Bishop is primarily a middle-distance runner, but he did compete in one cross country meet (2024).
Sienkiewicz joins the Bulldogs as a transfer from North Carolina, where he ran for the club team.
Sophomores (5)
Manley emerged as a member of Yale's top seven last season, placing sixth on the team at both Heps and NCAA Regionals.
Collier and Thomas made their Yale debuts on the track last year, competing in a pair of meets. McNulty helped his high school team win the OHSAA DI Cross Country State Championship in 2023. Strong ran a 5K cross country race in 15:08.90.
First-Years (4)
Berman brings a 5K cross country PR of 15:20.60, and he competed at NXN last year. Palmore's PR is 15:07.60, and he competed at NXN in 2024. Sigworth's PR is 15:25.00, and he was a three-time league and city champion. Thomas' PR is 14:32.00. He was a Washington 3A top-five placer twice.
