NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's golf program has tabbed junior Matthew Lin as its captain ahead of the 2026-27 season.

"We are excited to have Matt serve as our captain this year," said Keith Tyburski, Head Coach of Men's Golf. "Matt's positivity, enthusiasm, and team-first mindset will make him a great captain. He was voted to this position by his teammates, indicating their belief in him as a leader. He, along with the leadership contributions of our other experienced members of this team, will ensure a great year lies ahead."

This past season, Lin earned Second Team All-Ivy honors following his sophomore campaign, marking the first year-end recognition of his career. He led Yale at the Schenkel Invitational, earning co-medalist honors and subsequently being named Ivy League Golfer of the Month for March. Lin opened the tournament with a 68 (-4) to sit tied for second before carding a career-low 66 (-6) in the second round to maintain his position. He closed with a 69 (-3) to finish at 203 (-13) for the tournament. Lin led the field with 19 birdies and posted a par-4 scoring mark of eight-under.

"My goal as captain is to raise the bar of the Yale Men's Golf team," said Lin. "This involves creating a team environment where we push ourselves and support each other to achieve more than we thought possible. We have a lot of potential to raise the bar of the YGT this year, and I am excited to get started."

As a first-year Bulldog, Lin competed in nine tournaments, posting two top-20 finishes, including a first-place finish at the Columbia Spring Invitational and a runner-up finish at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial. His performance at Columbia earned him Ivy League Golfer of the Month honors.

At the Columbia Spring Invitational, Lin tied for first with Arkansas' John Daly II and Dartmouth's Tyler Brand. Each golfer carded a 70 in the first round and a 69 in the second, finishing at 139 (-1). It marked the first top finish of Lin's collegiate career.
