NEW HAVEN, Conn. – There were three Ivy League Championships and one CSA Team National title during a decade of success in Yale Squash. Today we highlight some of the key individuals who helped the program reach that success under head coach Dave Talbott.
Yale's All-Decade Team includes five All-Americans and some gritty competitors who led by example and inspired other Bulldogs to victory.
Here are the 10 players who made the all-decade squad.
Naishadh Lalwani '11
He came to Yale from India and became team captain of the 2011 Ivy League Champions and a CSA All-American.
Ryan Dowd '12
This Boston native won significant matches on some very strong teams, including the 2011 Ivy Champions, before becoming the captain.
John Roberts '12
Best known for winning the decisive match that ended Trinity's record win streak, this Ireland native was an Ivy League Champion who was in Yale's top four all four years.
Kenneth Chan '13
A native of Singapore, he helped the Bulldogs win an Ivy Championship while earning All-America and all-league accolades.
Richard Dodd '13
He received All-America honors during two seasons while the South African helped the Bulldogs win the 2011 Ivy League title. In addition, he was a two-time national doubles champion.
Hywell Robinson '13
A two-time All-American, this UK native helped Yale win the 2011 Ivy title before being voted team captain his senior year.
Sam Fenwick '16
The captain of the Ivy League and national champions, this Wales native went 5-1 playing No. 2 and 3 for the Elis while earning All-Ivy honors.
Thomas Dembinski '17
His teammates voted him captain after he helped the Elis win the 2016 national and Ivy League championships. The New Haven native was a multiple-year All-American.
Kah Wah Cheong '17
The top junior from Malaysia won the deciding match in Yale's 2016 national championship contest on the courts of the Brady Squash Center. He earned All-America honors multiple seasons.
Spencer Lovejoy '20
A four-time All-American and All-Ivy League selection, the Branford, Conn., native captained the Elis after becoming the first Yale man in 16 years to advance to the A division semifinals at CSA individual nationals.
