Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn -- After wrapping up their fifth straight Ivy League title and fourth consecutive NCAA bid, the Bulldogs close out their regular season schedule against Stony Brook.
Yale (17-7, 12-2 Ivy) defeated Harvard, 3-0, in a one-match Ivy playoff to determine the conference's automatic bid. The Bulldogs will learn their NCAA Tournament First Round opponent this Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on ESPNU.
The Bulldogs and Seawolves are meeting for the second straight season. Last year, Yale defeated Stony Brook, 3-1, in New York and won its 20th match of the season.
Stony Brook (17-14, 7-5 America East) was eliminated from the America East Conference tournament last Friday in a 3-0 loss to eventual champion New Hampshire. Tonight marks the final match for three Stony Brook seniors -- Hannah Dolan, Taylor Gillie and Evann Slaughter.
Yale is 9-1 all-time against Stony Brook.
In last year's win at Stony Brook, Kelly Johnson had a team-high 12 kills in the win last season, while Maddie Rudnick added two service aces.
Yale will look to extend to extend its current win streak to six in tonight's match. The Bulldogs have won 12 of their last 13 matches.
The Bulldogs' latest win ensured another NCAA Tournament appearance for Erin Appleman, who will be making her sixth trip at the helm of the Bulldogs.
Mollie Rogers, fresh off winning player of the year honors in the Ivy League, recorded a match-high 19 kills in the win over Harvard. In the clinching third set, Rogers went off for 10 kills and hit .409.
Johnson continued her recent stellar play and came through with a 13-kill, 13-dig effort in the win over the Crimson last Friday. Johnson, who earned her third first-team All-Ivy selection earlier in the week, had seven kills and a .429 hitting percentage in the second set.
In the first set against Harvard, Maya Midzik came through with big plays. Midzik, who earned second-team All-Ivy honors last week, had seven kills without an error in the opening set.
Jesse Ebner had seven digs and five blocks, while Rudnick had 13 digs to aid the Bulldogs in the win over Harvard.
