NEW HAVEN, CT. - The Yale women's sailing team earned their fourth consecutive regatta win this weekend at the Yale Women's Interconference. Their performance this season propelled them to the number one spot in the college sailing rankings as well.
In A division, junior skipper Casey Klingler and senior crew Natalya Doris finished third with 79 points.
Freshman skipper Louisa Nordstrom and senior crew Isabelle Rossi de Leon placed second in B division with 57 points. The duo won four races, including the last two of the regatta.
The conditions were tricky both days. On Saturday, the breeze was extremely light, allowing for only a handful of races in marginal conditions. Sunday was quite windy, and sailors also had to navigate current and waves.
Doris comments, "We were working on starting in waves, which we haven't had the chance to practice much in z420s this fall. We were also experimenting with board height to maximize speed downwind."
Klingler adds, "We did a great job recognizing changes in wind patterns throughout the day. Staying on our toes helped us gain on the left towards the end of the day despite the current disadvantage.
Next weekend, the Bulldogs will compete at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth.
