PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Yale women's and coed sailing teams competed in two one-day regattas to open the spring season over the weekend.
On Saturday, the coed team competed at the Liam O'Keefe '26 Trophy Team Race at Brown. The wind came out of the south and ranged from 10 to 13 knots with gusts up to 17 knots. One round robin was completed during the daylong event, and the Bulldogs posted a 4-3 record to place fourth. Skippers Alex Adams, Carly Kieding, Dorothy Mendelblatt and Morgan Pinckney sailed with crews Ella Benedetto, Ashley Highland, Julia Miller and Annabel Woodworth.
On Sunday, the women's team competed at the Harvard Women's Team Race, also hosted at Brown. The Bulldogs faced snowy conditions at the start of the day, along with wind from the north-northwest. The breeze ranged from 4 to 8 knots with gusts up to 18 knots. The event concluded after one round robin. The Bulldogs finished third with a 6-2 record. Skippers Carly Kieding, Dorothy Mendelblatt and Elle Sykes sailed with crews Julia Miller, Ella Benedetto, Carmen Berg and Sarah Moeder.
Next weekend, the coed team will compete in the Wood Trophy at Harvard before traveling to Charleston, South Carolina, for its spring break training trip.
