Bulldogs Win Fall New England Championship

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The No. 1 Yale women's sailing team won the Victorian Coffee Urn this weekend, crowning them the New England Champions and qualifying them for the Atlantic Coast Championships.

Junior skipper Casey Klingler and senior crew Natalya Doris dominated A division. Of the 12 races completed, they only finished out of the top four three times. They ended a near-perfect regatta with two first place finishes.

Freshman skipper Louisa Nordstrom and senior crew Isabelle Rossi de Leon finished fifth in B division after losing a tie breaker with Connecticut College.

Nordstrom comments, "Our speed and boathandling was excellent in both FJs and 420s, but we couldn't seem to make the right big picture decisions on Saturday. It was definitely a learning experience, and I'm glad we ended the regatta on a high note. I'm looking forward to the Atlantic Coast Championships."

Next weekend, Nordstrom will represent the Bulldogs at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship in Texas. The Atlantic Coast Championships will be hosted at the College of Charleston the following weekend.
