Glover With Two Hits In Second Game For Yale

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Yale ran into a hot team Sunday at the Mizuno Classic. UC Riverside earned its 19th and 20th wins of the young season by sweeping a doubleheader from the Bulldogs. The Thunderbirds won the first game 8-0 and then took the nightcap 8-1.

Yale was held to one hit in the opener, a double by freshman Madison Sack in the fifth inning.

The Bulldogs, though, did have an early opportunity. In the second, Lauren Delgadillo was hit by a pitch and Sack walked but both were left stranded.

Yale managed seven hits in the second game, including two from Sydney Glover.

The Bulldogs struck first in the first when Shelby Kennedy led off with a bunt single and later scored on an error.

UC Riverside, though, answered with a run in the bottom of the first and then added three more in the second to seize control.

Brittany Labbadia, Allison Skinner, Delgadillo, and Terra Jerpbak also had hits for Yale.

The Bulldogs are off Monday and then play at Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
