NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's sailing team blew out the competition at the New England Inter-collegiate Sailing Association Women's Team Race hosted at Yale's own McNay Family Sailing Center. After two days of racing, the Bulldogs came out on top with 13 wins and just two losses.
Seniors Charlotte Belling, Marly Isler, Emily Johnson and Sanam Rastegar led the no. 3 Bulldogs to a first place finish. The four women of the senior class have each played instrumental roles on the team in the past four years, and they were thrilled to start their final season together on home waters.
Sophomore skippers Claire Huebner and KB Knapp along with crews sophomore Caroline Colwell and freshman Claire Rossi de Leon also represented the Bulldogs, showcasing the team's up-and-coming talent.
Claire Rossi de Leon comments, "This was the first ever Yale women's team race regatta. A couple of us hadn't team raced before, and we did extraordinarily well considering our experience. It was the perfect way to start the season, and I'm lucky to be surrounded by so many inspiring women."
Next weekend, the Bulldogs will head to Annapolis to compete at the Navy Women's Spring Interconference.
