Bulldogs Fall At Columbia

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Grobman, Tarte With Two Hits In Both Games

Yale banged out 20 hits in Saturday's doubleheader with Columbia. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, not enough of them came at the right times. The result was 8-2 and 4-1 losses to the Lions in New York City.

First year Sydney Grobman and sophomore Annie Tarte both had two hits in each game for Yale.

The Bulldogs left a combined 18 runners on base in the two games.

In the opener, Allison Skinner's single scored Francesca Casalino in the first inning to give Yale an early lead.

The Lions, though, answered with two runs in the first and three in the third to seize control.

Tarte's double in the seventh scored Phylicia Wilkov for Yale's second run.

In the second game, Terra Jerpbak kept Columbia's high-powered offense off the board for five innings.

The Bulldogs again struck first when Carlin Hagmaier singled home Giovy Webb in the fourth inning.

Yale, though, left the bases loaded in both the first and fourth innings.

Still, it looked like Hagmaier's RBI single might be enough until Columbia erupted for four runs in the sixth inning.

Madison Sack, Tarte, Webb, Grobman and Hagmaier all had two hits for the Bulldogs.

The teams wrap up the series with a single game on Sunday. The first pitch is slated for 12:30 p.m.
