NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team takes a break from Ivy League play to travel to UMass on Tuesday. Kickoff at Rudd Field is slated for 3 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.
Here are notes on the New England battle.
* The Bulldogs (7-0-2, 2-0 Ivy) are coming off a 3-1 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday at Reese Stadium.
Mark Winhoffer and
Enzo Okpoye both had goals. Yale also benefitted from an own goal.
* The Bulldogs have won seven straight games, their longest winning streak since 1955. An eight-game winning streak would be the longest in a single season in the modern era of Yale men's soccer.
* Yale is ranked No. 23 in this week's College Soccer News national poll.
* Winhoffer leads the Ivy League with 15 points (3 goals, 9 assists).
* Okpoye has scored a goal in each of the last three games.
HISTORY LESSONS
Yale and UMass are playing for the first time since 1995, a 1-0 Minutemen victory. The game was played in West Springfield. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 9-2. The first meeting came in 1936.
SCOUTING UMASS
The Minutemen (4-8) are coming off a 1-0 loss to Fordham on Saturday. UMass is playing its final non-league match of the season. James McPherson and Graham Brenner lead the team with three goals apiece.
