NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team opened Ivy League play in impressive fashion on Saturday, knocking off Harvard 3-1 in front of a big crowd at Reese Stadium. First year
Sigfus Arnason played a key role in the victory, scoring a pair of goals, and has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Arnason's two goals came nearly 84 minutes apart. He opened the scoring just 2:26 into the game when he headed home a long
John Leisman cross and then sealed the victory with a rocket into the back of the net from 20 yards out with less than four minutes remaining.
Arnason has had a big impact for the Bulldogs in his first year. He has appeared in all eight games and started five.
Sophomore
Enzo Okpoye also was recognized by the league by being named to the Honor Roll. Okpoye scored his first career goal earlier in the week in a 4-0 victory over Central Connecticut and added another goal vs. the Crimson.
Yale (6-0-2) has won six straight games and remain No. 28 in this week's
College Soccer News Top 30 national poll.
The Bulldogs host Dartmouth on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
