The Yale Sailing Team competed in two regattas this past weekend. Young groups raced against top teams at the Rudkin Team Race in Florida and at the Ice Breaker Fleet Race at Tufts, where they truly broke ice off the boats before sailing. While the team had tough events in both locations, they are still shaking the rust off and will be looking forward to spring break training next week.
Rudkin Team Race Promotional Sailors:
Dylan DiMarchi / Anisha Arcot
Nicholas Marwell / Helena Ware
Christophe Chaumont / Mina Cezairli
Ice Breaker Fleet Race Sailors:
Adam Wolnikowski / Martin Tipton / Alexandra Contomichalos
Jonathan Schwartz / Jacob Asher / Allison Rice
Racing was cancelled for Sunday at Tufts due to extreme weather, but the Elis managed to get some races off on Saturday in light breeze, finishing 11th after 8 races in A division and 6 race in B division.
In Florida, the young team racing team got off to a slow start, but managed to win several races later in the event despite tough competition. While the racers at Tufts saw ice on the lake, these sailors enjoyed sunny skies and warm temperatures despite little breeze.
