HANOVER, N.H. - The Yale Women's Sailing Team had a fantastic weekend competing at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth. The team finished second overall (out of 18) with a solid lead of 19 points on the third-place team. 
 
On Saturday, the wind was light and coming from the North. Only four races were sailed per division in the light breeze. Senior A fleet skipper Chrissie Klingler found that staying focused on the wind was important. She noted, "Since we had very little wind for most of the weekend every race really counted. Catherine and I were really focused on staying in pressure and trying to keep the boat moving when the wind got very light". 
 
Sunday turned out to be an even lighter wind day and the team stayed zoned in on connecting the puffs of wind. Sophomore crew Catherine Webb said, "it was important to sail to the pressure instead of waiting for it to come because the wind was coming from over the mountains and the velocity of the puffs moving down the course didn't match the speed of the pressure in the puffs". 
 
The team's tactful decision making and focus helped them secure second place. In A fleet, Chrissie Klinger and Catherine Webb stood solidly in first place, with a nine-point lead. For first-year skipper Megan Grimes this weekend marked the second weekend of competition and offered an opportunity to demonstrate her learning. Megan Grimes along with her crew Meredith Ryan sailed impressively, earning first place in a race in Sunday's light and tricky wind. They finished the weekend in third place in B division. Megan added that she enjoyed being at Lake Mascoma, and found it to be a very beautiful venue.
