NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team kicks off Ivy League play by traveling to New Jersey to face Princeton on Saturday. Kickoff at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium is set for 4 p.m. ESPN+ has the video

Here are notes on the Ivy opener:

* The Bulldogs (6-2) have won four straight games, including a dominant 3-0 victory over Central Connecticut on Sunday.

* Yale enters Ivy League play with six overall wins for just the second time since 2005. The Bulldogs were 6-2-1 prior to the league opener in 2017.

* Lydia Shaw and Ellery Winkler were both named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Shaw scored the game-winning goal in double overtime in the victory at Northeastern last Thursday. Winkler assisted on that winning goal and also had a goal and an assist in Sunday's win over Central Connecticut.

* Winkler and Aerial Chavarin, along with Harvard's Angela Caloia, share the league lead with five goals. Winkler is second in points with 15.

* Goalkeeper Alyssa Fagel, who has played every minute of every game, is fourth in the league with 20 saves.

* Yale has outscored its opponents 12-4 in the first half.

* During their four-game winning streak, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 9-2.

* Brendan Faherty, the first year Loring Family Head Coach of the Bulldogs, will be making his Ivy League debut.

HISTORY LESSONS

Yale has opened Ivy play against Princeton in every season since 2008. The Bulldogs have won three of the last five games at Roberts Stadium, but the Tigers have won the last two and are unbeaten in their last five games overall against Yale. Princeton knocked off the Bulldogs 3-0 last year at Reese Stadium.

SCOUTING PRINCETON

The Tigers, the defending Ivy League champions, are 3-3-2. They are coming off a 1-0 win over William & Mary last Sunday. Courtney O'Brien (four) and Grace Sherman (three) have combined to score seven of Princeton's 12 goals. Goalkeeper Natalie Grossi's next shutout will be the 30th of her career, breaking the tie with Dartmouth alumna Kristin Luckenbill for the Ivy League record for career shutouts. She would be the first player in Ivy soccer history, men's or women's, to reach that number.
