Yale Boasts 13 Programs in National Polls

The Bulldogs have nine teams ranked in the top-10

NEW HAVEN, Conn. –As the calendar is about to turn on the first month of 2020, Yale University Athletics is in the midst of one of its most successful seasons in department history as the Bulldogs currently boast 13 programs in the national rankings. That includes nine teams in the top-10 of their respective polls.
 
Two Ivy league championship teams this past fall kicked things off for the Elis as football ranked No. 24 in the AFCA Coaches poll and No. 25 in the STATS FCS Top-25. Men's soccer rode its Ivy title and NCAA tournament appearance to votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
 
After winning a national championship in coed sailing last year, the Bulldogs had another strong start in the water this fall and are currently ranked fifth in the nation Sailing World's top-20 poll. Yale's women's sailing has been even better as the No. 2 team in the country with 2020 competition set to start in late February.
 
Four programs receiving national attention are in the middle of their seasons. The women's squash team currently boasts a No. 2 mark in the College Squash Association (CSA) rankings while the men's squash program checks in at No. 7.
 
Yale's men's fencing team is one of five Ivy League squads in CollegeFencing360.com's Top-10 Coaches Poll as the Bulldogs check in at No. 8 in the country. The women's fencing team is just outside of the top-10 as they are receiving votes in the poll and recently upset No. 1-ranked Notre Dame.
 

Men's Basketball has won 10 of its past 11 games and are receiving votes in the latest USA TODAY Top-25 Coaches poll.  
 
Yale's men's lacrosse team, which won the NCAA Championship in 2018 and appeared in the past two national title games is ranked No. 3 in both the Inside Lacrosse and Nike/US Lacrosse top-20 polls.
 
All three Eli oars teams finished in the top-10 last season and are fully expected to be ranked when the preseason polls are released in late February. Yale heavyweight crew is the three-time reigning national champions with their no. 1 national ranking. The lightweight crew team posted a top-five finish at No. 4 while the women's rowing team makes it nine top-10 teams for the Bulldogs at No. 9.
 
Through the fall season, Yale earned three Ivy League Championship team titles with football and men's soccer being joined by its volleyball team while Kayley DeLay was individual champion in women's cross country.
