Bulldogs Fall at Old Dominion, 6-1

Yale Load Bases in Eighth as Rally Falls Short

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Bulldogs dropped a 6-1 decision to Old Dominion on Friday afternoon.

Pierce Blohowiak, Teddy Hague and Brian Ronai had two hits each for Yale.  Ronai drove in the Bulldogs' only run in eighth with a single to right that scored Jake Gehri.  

Old Dominion scored three runs in the first off Yale starter Alex Stiegler.  Yale almost rallied in the second.

Yale put runners in scoring position in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth. 

Blohowiak beat out a two-out infield hit and advanced to third on a Ronai single to right.  Ronai stole second and was stranded to end the second.  

Hague tripled to right in the fourth with two outs and did not score.  In the fifth, Harry Hegeman worked out a two-out walk and Mason LaPlante was hit by a pitch but neither advanced any further. 

The Bulldogs broke through in the eigth.  Gehri started the rally with a one-out single to right, and with two outs Blohowiak beat out an infield hit. 

Ronai drove in Gehri and Blohowiak advanced to third.  Cal Christofori walked to load the bases and all three Bulldogs were left on base. 

The two teams will play game two of the series tomorrow at 2 p.m.
