NORFOLK, Va. --
Teddy Hague homered and was one of five Bulldogs with a multi-hit game in a loss at Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon.
Mason LaPlante reached base six times, produced four hits and scored three runs to pace Yale's offense in a game that featured 22 runs after the fifth inning. The Monarchs won the game 18-10.Â
Harry Hegeman led off the game with a walk, stole second and moved to third with LaPlante reached on an error.Â
Carson Swank drove in Hegeman on a groundout to give Yale the early lead.
After Old Dominion scored three in the bottom of the first, Yale tied the game with two in the fifth. Swank doubled home a run and later scored a Jake Gerhi single. Â
Old Dominion scored five in the sixth, and Yale responded with four in the seventh. Hegeman started another rally with a leadoff walk.
LaPlante followed with a single that moved Hegeman to third. LaPlante stole second and Swank followed with a two-run double. Â
Swank finished with a team-high four runs batted in and scored three times.Â
With one out in the seventh,
Teddy Hague launched a two-run homer to score Swank and pulled Yale to within a run. Hague, Swank, Gehri and
Brian Ronai each had two hits in the game.Â
The Monarchs exploded for 10 runs in the next two innings and came away with the victory.Â
Kipp Grant started for the Bulldogs and allowed three runs over four innings. Â
Mike Walsh came on in the fifth and took the loss.Â
The two teams will wrap up the three-game series with a matchup tomorrow at 1 p.m.
