NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Following the conclusion of the 2020 indoor season, four members of the Yale women's track and field team earned All-Ivy Honors for their performances at the 2020 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships in Ithaca, N.Y. This marks a significant improvement from last season, when many of the Bulldogs who scored points at the championship meet still came up just shy of receiving All-Ivy accolades, which are only given to the first- and second-place finishers in each of the competition's events.
Kayley DeLay was the lone Bulldog awarded for her individual performance at last weekend's Heps. She earned first team All-Ivy Honors for her win in the 3,000 meter run, where she executed a perfect finish to a tactical race and crossed the line 9:29.74. Despite not taking the lead until the final laps, DeLay finished four seconds ahead of the runner-up, Cornell's Gabrielle Orie. The honors come in addition to DeLay's All-Ivy honors and individual cross country Heps title from November.
Other members of the Yale women's team who also earned honors were Aliya Boshnak, Jocelyn Chau and Samantha Friborg. The three competed in the women's Distance Medley Relay, which was anchored by DeLay, and finished second only to the women of Harvard. Their time of 11:32.47 places them seventh on Yale's all-time top performances list and put them comfortably ahead of third-place Princeton in Sunday's race.
