Yale Takes 7th at Rudkin Team Race

Bulldogs Get Back Into Racing Form

ST PETERSBURG, Fla. - The No. 5 Yale Coed Sailing Team placed seventh at the Rudkin Team Race Regatta hosted by Roger Williams at the Eckerd College sailing facility.

While six sailors competed at the Rudkin, a majority of the team, including the top two coed team race lineups and the women's team race lineup, trained at the nearby University of South Florida facilities with esteemed alumni.

Four round robins were completed for all seven teams over the course of the two-day competition in moderate, shifty winds. Many teams sent their top team race teams to this event, while the Bulldogs opted to view the competition as a training opportunity for many sailors.

Junior crew Mina Cezairli explains that "this was the first regatta of the season for most of [the sailors competing at the Rudkin] and the first ever team race regatta for half of us." Despite the outcome of the event, Cezairli and her teammates valued the opportunity "to learn a lot through high level competition" which they will "carry to future events."
