NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale volleyball team is set for a big weekend. The Bulldogs host Penn on Friday at 7 p.m. and Princeton on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the final home weekend of the regular season.
Â
Yale enters Friday's match tied with Princeton for second place in the Ivy League. Both the Bulldogs and Tigers are 7-3 in league play, two matches behind first-place Brown (9-1). Princeton plays at Brown on Friday before coming to Lee Amphitheater on Saturday.
Â
Saturday also is Senior Night, and three Bulldogs playing their final home match will be honored –
Kathryn Attar, Ashley Dreyer and
Ellis DeJardin. All three have made outstanding contributions to Yale Volleyball over the last four years, helping the Bulldogs win three Ivy titles.
Â
Dreyer of San Mateo, Calif., is very appreciative of her time at Yale.
Â
"My teammates are my family and support me on and off the court," she said. "They have made my Yale Volleyball experience beyond special. We trained together, played together, fought together and won as a unit. Being a part of this wonderful program for the past four years has allowed me to grow stronger physically and mentally."
Â
Attar of Tampa, Fla., was the 2017 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition as a junior.
Â
DeJardin also is an Ivy Rookie of the Year, winning the award in 2018 when she also earned First Team All-Ivy recognition. In addition, DeJardin was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2019.
