Yale Announces 2021 Field Hockey Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale announced its 2021 field hockey schedule Monday. The 17-game regular season (seven Ivy League games, 10 non-league games) starts Sept. 3 vs. Merrimack. The Ivy League portion of the season starts Sept. 25 vs. Brown.

This is Yale's 17th year with Pam Stuper as the Caroline Ruth Thompson '02 Head Coach of Field Hockey. The Bulldogs return 19 players and will add six incoming first-years.

Here is a breakdown of the schedule for 2021:
  • Yale's regular-season schedule consists of 17 games. There are seven Ivy League games (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn and Princeton) and 10 non-conference games.
  •  The schedule includes 11 home games at Johnson Field.
  • The schedule includes 10 non-conference games, and seven different conferences are represented:
  • Sept. 3 vs. Merrimack (Northeast Conference) 
  • Sept. 5 vs. Fairfield (Northeast Conference) 
  • Sept. 10 at Lafayette (Patriot League)
  • Sept. 18 vs. Colgate (Patriot League)
  • Sept. 19 vs. Wagner (Northeast Conference)
  • Sept. 26 vs. Drexel (Colonial Athletic Association)
  • Oct. 3 at Quinnipiac (Big East)
  • Oct. 10 at UMass (Atlantic 10)
  • Oct. 20 vs. Sacred Heart (Northeast Conference) 
  • Oct. 24 vs. Hofstra (Colonial Athletic Association)
 
  • Yale plays games in five different states (Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania). Ten of Yale's players have a game in their home state.
  • Yale Field Hockey Alum Day is Oct. 9 and Family Weekend is Oct. 8-10, with a home game vs. Harvard on Saturday, Oct. 9.
     
  • On Saturday, Nov. 6 vs. Cornell, Yale will celebrate Senior Day, as the Bulldogs pay tribute to the members of the Class of 2022. 
  • NCAA Tournament competition starts with opening round games Nov. 10 (featuring the four lowest automatic-qualification teams). The field includes 10 automatic qualifiers -- including a spot for the Ivy League champion -- and eight at-large selections. The first- and second-round games take place at campus sites Nov. 12-14. The winners of those series advance to the Final Four, which will be hosted by Michigan on Nov. 19 and 21.
  • Live stats and video of all home games, and road games where applicable, will be available via links on yalebulldogs.com. Home games and select road games will be streamed on ESPN+.
