Beales Selected for NFHCA Senior Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior forward Poppy Beales (King's Lynn, England) of the No. 12 Yale field hockey team has been selected for the NFHCA Senior Team. The NFHCA announced the selections – a total of 38 players – Thursday. Beales was one of seven Ivy Leaguers chosen. The honorees were selected by NFHCA committees. Per the NFHCA, the honor "celebrates their competitive excellence, leadership, and lasting influence within their programs."

Beales served as Yale's captain this past season, leading the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance and its first Ivy League Tournament appearance. The team finished with 12 wins, tied for third-most in school history.

Beales has been one of Yale's top offensive threats throughout her career, and she also has been a critical part of the Bulldogs' defensive penalty corners. This year she ranks fourth in the Ivy League with a career-high 12 goals.

Beales is seventh on Yale's career goals list (31) and 10th on Yale's career points list (65). She started 50 games in a row at the end of her career.

Beales' other career honors include first team All-Ivy League (sophomore, junior and senior years) and first team NFHCA All-Mideast Region (sophomore and junior years; this year's selections will be announced shortly).
