Ivy League Announces At-Large Academic All-Ivy Teams

Yale student-athletes stand out in the classroom an in their sport

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Ivy League announced its honorees for the 2021 Academic All-Ivy At-Large Teams on Tuesday morning with several Bulldogs being recognized for their performances both in their sport and in the classroom. 

The At-Large Team recognizes top student-athletes in non-Ivy League sponsored sports. Institutions nominated one student-athlete from each of its non-Ivy League sponsored sports – women's archery, women's equestrian, sprint football, women's gymnastics, women's lightweight rowing, women's rugby, women's sailing, coed sailing, women's skiing, men's skiing, men's volleyball, women's water polo, men's water polo – to be included on the Academic All-Ivy At-Large team. Student-athletes must be in good academic standing to be eligible for the award.

Rowan Palmer, women's gymnastics (Sr., Mechanical Engineering - Knoxville, Tenn.)
3.85 GPA. Helped team win two Ivy Classics and one ECAC Championship in her career. Two-time ECAC All-Academic Team honoree. Regular part of team's lineup on vault, and also competed on beam Earned career-high 9.600 on vault in five-team meet at Maryland in 2020, helping Yale place second behind No. 29 Terrapins. Working as a systems engineer in advanced programs for Lockheed Martin Space, researching and developing projects focused on human space exploration. 

Cate Mollerus, women's sailing (Sr., Applied Math - Larchmont, N.Y.)
A 2018 and 2019 All-NEISA crew selection, Mollerus helped the Bulldogs to a third-place finish at the 2019 ICSA National Women's Championship. She helped the team to wins at numerous major championships including the Yale Women's Trophy, The Frank Mendleblatt Trophy, St. Mary's Women's Trophy, Friis Trophy, Sperry Women's National Semi-Final, Victorian Urn Trophy, The Joseph R Duplin Women's Team Race Trophy and the Stu Nelson Trophy. She served on the executive board of the CT Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Yale, helping with its Yale Society Initiative.

Martin Tipton, coed sailing (Sr., - Engineering Science & Mechanical Engineering - New Haven, Conn.)
Double Major with a 3.82 GPA. Named the team's commodore in Spring of 2020. Finished eighth overall at the 2020 Yale Invite In 2018-19, placed 3rd (A division) Central Series Four and 8th (A division) Morris Trophy.
