Bulldogs Clash With Columbia Saturday

YALE ANNOUNCES NEW SPECTATOR POLICIES EFFECTIVE FEB. 11

NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
The race for spots and high seeds in the Ivy League Tournament heats up this weekend, with a critical game in New Haven that could go a long way toward determining teams' fates in March. Yale, tied for third place in the Ivy standings, hosts second-place Columbia (2:00 p.m., ESPN+, Live Stats). A Yale win would give the Bulldogs the same number of league wins as the Lions.

Last Game
Yale (13-8, 6-3 Ivy League) erupted for 42 points in the second half and held Harvard to its second-lowest point total in the last eight games Saturday evening at Lavietes Pavilion, but the Crimson still mustered enough offense to claim a 65-59 win over the Bulldogs. Yale led 25-24 in the third before an 11-3 Harvard run that proved pivotal. Junior forward Camilla Emsbo (Lakewood, Colo.) led Yale with 17 points, while sophomore guard Klara Astrom (Menlo Park, Calif.) added 14.

Ivy Outlook
Yale enters the weekend tied with Harvard for third place in the Ivy League with a 6-3 record, a game and a half behind second-place Columbia (7-1). Princeton (8-0) leads the league. Fifth-place Penn is 2.5 games behind Harvard and Yale, currently on the outside looking in in terms of the four Ivy League Tournament spots. The Quakers visit the Crimson Saturday evening. Four weekends remain in the regular season, with the Ivy League Tournament set for Harvard's Lavietes Pavilion Mar. 11 and 12.

Emsbo Joins the 1,000 Club
Last Friday at Dartmouth, junior forward Camilla Emsbo (Lakewood, Colo.) became the 23rd Yale women's basketball player to join the 1,000 career point club. Her and-one at the 8:02 mark of the fourth quarter gave her 1,002 career points, four behind Sarah Jacobsen '93 for 22nd on Yale's all-time list. She is also currently 11th on Yale's career rebounding list (646), 11 away from tenth-place Anne Seidler '78. She is second on Yale's career blocks list (158), 24 away from the school record set by Erica Davis '07. Emsbo has three of the six best single-season block totals in Yale history.

Among the Ivy's Best Defensively
Yale enters the weekend ranked second in the Ivy League in scoring defense, allowing a mere 56.2 points per game. Three times in the last seven games the Bulldogs have held their opponents to a shooting percentage below .300. The 33 points Yale allowed last Friday in the win at Dartmouth was the lowest total by a Yale opponent since the Bulldogs' 54-33 win vs. Columbia Feb. 10, 1996.

Home Cooking
Yale is 6-2 at home this season and 22-9 (.710) at John J. Lee Amphitheater since the start of the 2018-19 season. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points per game at home.

13 is Her Lucky Number
Senior forward Alex Cade (Shaker Heights, Ohio) has reached the 13 rebound mark twice in the last four games. Her career high in rebounds is 14, set Feb. 2, 2019. For the year Cade is sixth in the Ivy League in rebounding, averaging 7.5 boards per game. That marks a dramatic improvement from her average in her previous season – she averaged 2.5 rebounds per game in 2019-20.

Clark's Assist Marks Top League
Sophomore guard Jenna Clark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has four of the five highest single-game assist totals in the Ivy League this season, including a season high of 11 in Yale's win at Cornell Jan. 15. The only other Ivy League player who has reached the nine-assist level in a game this season is Columbia's Carly Rivera, who had nine assists in the Lions' win at Penn Feb. 4.
