Swain Selected to Participate in 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship

16 teams of players representing every Division I conference will compete

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Azar Swain has been selected to participate in the 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship, scheduled for April 1-3 at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans.

Sixty-four players, who have elected to begin their professional careers, will represent all 32 Division I conferences and compete for their share of $150,000 – one of the largest prize purses at any FIBA 3x3 sanctioned events – by teaming up with other aspiring pro prospects from around the country. Each conference will be paired with another, forming 16 four-man rosters that will be separated into four pools.

Swain will be teaming up with Brown's Tamenong Choh and Boston University's Javante McCoy and Sukhmail Mathon on the Ivy/Patriot team named Wicked Smahts that will compete in Pool B.

Swain enjoyed a remarkable senior season for the Bulldogs, helping lead the team to an Ivy League Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Swain, a first team All-Ivy selection and a finalist for the Lou Henson Award as the top mid-major player in Division I college basketball, led the Bulldogs in scoring at 19.2 ppg., which was second in the league. In addition, he led the league in free throw percentage at .891, which is currently 16th in the nation.

Swain, the most valuable player of the Ivy League Tournament, will graduate as Yale's all-time leader with 217 career three-pointers. His 1,529 career points are the sixth most in school history.

Teams will play each squad in their respective pool on April 1 and 2 before all 16 will head to the knockout stage on April 3, with the top two teams from each pool receiving byes to the quarterfinals.
