Ivy Battles Continue as No. 8 Yale Hosts No. 5 Penn

Men’s lacrosse plays its third-straight opponent ranked in the top-5 nationally

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale University men's lacrosse continues its gauntlet of a start in Ivy League play as the No. 8 Bulldogs host No. 5 Penn on Saturday, April 2, at 3:30 p.m., inside Reese Stadium. It will be the third-straight top-5 Ivy opponent that the Elis take on. Additionally, it is Tsai Lacrosse Field House Dedication Day with the building's namesakes on hand along with a plethora of alumni expected for another lacrosse doubleheader with the Yale women opening at Noon.

The Bulldogs (4-2, 1-1 Ivy League) are coming off a win over then-No. 3 Princeton last Saturday, 14-12. Junior attackman Matt Brandau posted his second five-goal, three-assist performance in his last three games and earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors.

Additionally, sophomore goalie Jared Paquette improved to 4-2 on the year with a career-high 19 saves which included five clutch stops in the final quarter. He was recognized by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) as one of the nation's best performances and added to their Team of the Week.

The national news continued to flood in for the Bulldogs as Brandau was joined by senior captain Brian Tevlin as the only two collegiate selections to this summer's Team USA Lacrosse Sixes roster as the duo will compete in the World Games this July. Head coach Andy Shay will be one of two coaches for the Red, White & Blue.

Finally, Yale was recognized yesterday with four selections to Inside Lacrosse's Midseason All-American Teams. Brandau and Tevlin were tabbed to the Third Team while senior defender Chris Fake and sophomore long-stick midfielder Jack Stuzin were Honorable Mention selections.

Entering the game against Penn, the Bulldogs have won three of their last four games with its lone loss coming on the road at No. 3 Cornell by a single goal. Yale has not lost a game at Reese Stadium since February 16, 2019, and has not lost a conference home game since April 29, 2017.
