NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team, up to No. 59 in the latest ITA national rankings, hits the road for the first time in Ivy League play this weekend. The Bulldogs are at Cornell on Saturday for a noon match and then meet No. 63 Columbia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Chelsea Kung, fresh off her upset last weekend of Princeton's Daria Frayman, who was the top-ranked player in the nation at the time, is now ranked No. 71 in singles. Frayman dropped to No. 3 in the rankings this week.
At 2-1 in Ivy play, the Bulldogs are in a four-way tie for second place, joined by Penn, Cornell and Princeton. Harvard is on top at 3-0.
Cornell (7-9 overall) is coming off a 7-0 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday. In Ivy matches, the Big Red has posted victories over Columbia (4-3) and Dartmouth (4-3) and lost to Harvard (4-2).
Columbia (10-10 overall) is 0-3 in Ivy League play. The Lions have fallen to Cornell, Dartmouth (4-3) and Harvard (4-1).
