NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team is off to a strong start in Ivy League play. The Bulldogs knocked off Brown 4-1 in their league opener at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
Yale won the doubles point thanks to victories from the duos of
Chelsea Kung and
Jessie Gong (6-3) and
Kathy Wang and
Caroline Dunleavy (6-4).
In singles, Dunleavy at No. 2 and
Rhea Shrivastava at No. 5 were both three-set winners. Dunleavy rallied to win after dropping the first set. Shrivastava won her third set 6-0. At No. 1 singles, Kung cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Brown's Britany Lau.
Yale has won six of its last seven matches.
Next up, the Bulldogs
host Princeton on Apr. 9 and Penn on Apr. 10. Both matches begin at noon.
