NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The home portion of the 2022 schedule wraps up for the Yale softball team this weekend with Cornell visiting 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The first pitch on both days is slated for 12:30 p.m. Saturday will be Senior Day, and
Kortney Ponce and
Miranda Papes will be honored in a brief ceremony prior to the first pitch.
Â
Both Ponce and Papes have made outstanding contributions to the Yale softball program both on and off the field during their careers. Ponce, who has been unable to play this season due to injury, is a two-time team captain and has provided outstanding leadership. In 2019, she was the recipient of the team's Most Valuable Player and Barbara Chou Leadership awards.
Â
Papes was an honorable mention All-Ivy selection in 2018 after leading the pitching staff in ERA and wins in Ivy League play. She also topped the team in ERA in league games in 2019 and led the pitching staff with four victories in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

In addition, Saturday is Yale's Pediatric Cancer Awareness game. The Bulldogs will wear yellow ribbons and bracelets to show their support. There are four organizations that are particularly close to the team's heart.
