PHILADELPHIA — Thursday, senior and captain Emma Vasen was the sole representative for Yale Women's Track and Field at the Penn Relays. She competed in the hammer throw, and finished a respectable ninth place in the event. Her best throw of the day came on her third of six attempts, tossing a distance of 171'1".
After falling slightly shorter than her best throws this season, Vasen expects better performances Friday.
"I definitely have lofty goals in discus tomorrow. I'm super excited to get out there, have some nice weather, feel good and to throw far," said Vasen.
Vasen competed at this meet her first year, and certainly values the rich history this meet provides.
"The meet is a great opportunity to get to compete against some new competition, while also seeing familiar faces. I really like the throws setup at Penn and it's always nice to revisit meets that I threw in during my first year," said Vasen.
Vasen will compete Friday in the discus throw at 12 p.m. The women's 4x100m relay team of senior Ava Thomas, senior Libby McMahon, junior Aliya Boshnak and senior Sophie Isom will compete Friday at 1:03 p.m.
A livestream of the meet is available on FloTrack. Live results are also available.
