CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Yale coed sailing team won the Atlantic Coast Championship Qualifiers at MIT and came in second at the Sister Esther at Salve Regina.
Yale put on a particularly impressive show at the ACC Qualifiers. Facing fairly solid wind conditions — 6-12 knots from the East South East — on the notoriously tricky Charles River, the Elis ended the weekend in first place, with an impressive 25 point lead over the second place Brown Bears. Skipper
Teddy Nicolosi and crews Ashley Highland and
Sarah Moeder won a tightly contested A-division, securing first place by just one point. In B division, skipper Morgan Pinckney and crews
Jessi Avila-Shah and
Nathan Sih, came in second. With their win today, Yale has secured a position in the Open Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by St. Mary's two weeks from now.
Yale also found success at the Sister Esther at Salve Regina. The team not only finished second overall, but skipper Alex Adams and crew
Mary Madaus ended the weekend in second place in B Division.
Next weekend, the Yale Coed Sailing Team will take on the Captain Hurst Regatta at Harvard, the Nevins Regatta at King's Point, and the NEISA Match Race Championship at Marblehead.
