Yale Ties for First in the Nation in NCAA Graduation Success Rate

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale University Athletics tied for the best Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the country as the NCAA released its annual student-athlete graduation success report on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' GSR of 99 percent for student-athletes who began their college careers in 2016 tied Bucknell, Columbia, Harvard and Villanova for first.
 
Yale's GSR has been 97 percent or better for all 13 years that the NCAA has announced the figure. The Bulldogs led the nation in GSR in 2020 and 2021 and tied for second last year.
 
This year Yale had 21 teams with a perfect 100 percent GSR: baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's fencing, women's fencing, women's golf, gymnastics, men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's track and field/cross country and volleyball.

"Our student-athletes continue to make us proud by ranking amongst the nation's leaders in the Graduation Success Rate," said Victoria M. "Vicky" Chun, Yale's Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics. "The work they put in to achieve their Yale degrees is a testament to the impact those degrees will have on their future."

All eight Ivy League schools achieved GSRs of at least 96 percent this year. As a conference, the Ancient Eight led the nation in GSR for the 13th consecutive year.
 
The NCAA's Graduation Success Rate includes transfer students and student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation over six years from first-time college enrollment.
