STORRS, Conn. -- The Yale men's track and field team was represented strongly by its core throwing contingent at the UConn Northeast Challenge on Friday. In unseasonably hot conditions there was strong competition, but Yale's three athletes competing in the discus throw were all on top form as they pushed their competitors hard. Leading them home in second place overall was junior
Matt Appel with a 54.61m throw, just ahead of first year
Nolan Recker in fifth with a 50.70m throw and
Chris Ward in eighth with a 48.79m effort. Each of them were close to their PRs and will be keen to keep building on the momentum they established today as they turn their attention to the UVA Challenge next week.
