PRINCETON, N.J. – The Yale heavyweight crew team captured the Carnegie Cup in a race against Princeton and Cornell on the Lake Carnegie.

The 102-year-old race is competed for annually at rotating sites. Last season, Princeton took the victory in Derby, but the prior six seasons saw Yale on top. Princeton has won the most Carnegie titles with 38, but Yale is quickly approaching now with 26 wins to their credit. Cornell has won 30 cup races in total and last won in 2012.

How It Happened
- All five races saw Yale finish in the top spot with Princeton finishing second, and Cornell finishing third in all of them.
- Yale's first varsity boat (05:36.8) finished less than one second quicker than Princeton (05:37.7) to take the prized cup race.
- The Bulldogs' second varsity performed well after needing to find some rhythm the last few weeks. The 2V, 3V, 4V, and 5V were dominant for Yale.
- The 2V finished with a time of 05:52.1, while Princeton's squad finished at 05:55.0 and Cornell finished at 06:04.6.
- The 3V (05:55.0) finished nearly seven seconds quicker than the Tigers (06:02.4) and the Big Red (06:05.4), the 4V (06:01.3) finished four seconds ahead, while the 5V finished nearly seven seconds ahead of Princeton as well.
