The Yale softball team is set to square off against the Brown Bears in the squad's regular season series finale. The Bulldogs are vying for a spot in the inaugural Ivy League Tournament with three games remaining.
Scouting Yale
- The Bulldogs are 19-19 overall and 10-8 in the Ivy League going into the final regular season series against Brown.
- Last week against Dartmouth, Lauren Perren slashed a line of .556/.636/.1.333 to help the Bulldogs to a series sweep over Dartmouth with eight RBI, two home runs, two walks, five runs scored.
- As a team, Yale leads the conference in doubles (57), triples (13), and slugging percentage (.441).
- The Bulldogs have three players who are ranked in the top ten in on base percentage in the conference. Willa Ferrer (.437) is second, Carolyn Skotz (.430) in third, while Alex Perren (.417) is seventh.
- Lauren Perren leads the conference in RBI with 33 and home runs (8), Libby Peoples leads in triples (3), while Carolyn Skotz leads in walks (27).
Last Season Against Dartmouth
- Last season's series saw Brown walk away with a 2-1 record against the Bulldogs.
- After picking up a game one win, 4-3, the Bulldogs fell, 4-2 and 15-5, to the Bears.
Scouting the Bears
- Brown is 11-25 overall and 7-11 in the conference heading into the weekend series.
- The Bears sport a 6-5 home record.
- In its last six games, Brown is 2-4. The squads two victories were over Ivy opponents with a 6-5 win over Dartmouth at home and a 4-2 victory against Penn on the road.
- Jasmine Hsiao is the Bears' heavy hitter. Hsiao leads the team in RBI with 14, runs with 18, doubles with 10, and home runs with six. She is also slugging .580.
- Alexis Guevara has started the most games for Brown in the circle. The sophomore has hurled 106.1 innings with 83 strikeouts.
Ivy League Honors
- Lauren Perren earned her second Player of the Week honor after having an explosive set of performances in a 4-1 week for Yale. The sophomore batted .400, with a .471 on base percentage and a 1.067 slugging percentage over a five-game stretch for Yale.
- Libby Peoples earned her second Rookie of the Week honor after posting five solid performances for the Bulldogs against Sacred Heart and Dartmouth. The first year slashed a line of .471/.500/.529 with a double, a walk and scored eight runs. Against Dartmouth alone, she batted .700 with a .727 on base percentage, and a 1.333 slugging percentage.
