Clash at Unbeaten No. 14 Army Tuesday Night is Final Non-League Game

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – There are three unbeaten teams left in NCAA women's lacrosse. The No. 13 Yale women's lacrosse team takes on one of them Tuesday night, as the Bulldogs head to No. 14 Army (ESPN+, Live Stats). The Black Knights are 11-0 to start the season. This is Yale's final non-league game of the regular season.

Last Game
Five players had hat tricks, the defense limited Brown to just three goals in the final 41:47, and a school individual career record fell. It was a thoroughly impressive day for Yale (8-2, 3-0 Ivy League) at Brown Saturday. The Bulldogs broke open a 4-3 game with a 5-0 run to end the first half, then cruised to an 18-6 win that makes Yale the only team that is 3-0 in Ivy League play. Senior attacker Olivia Penoyer (Manlius, N.Y.) had four assists, including one at the 12:21 mark of the second that gave her 87 for her career – breaking the school record of 86 that was set by Laura Karmatz '95 28 years ago.

An Impressive Performance at the Season's Double-Digit Mark
Yale has started the season 8-2, matching last year's 10 game start. The last time prior to that that the Bulldogs started the season with that many wins in the first 10 games was 2002, when Yale went 9-2 to start the season and went on to finish 11-5.

Dominant Defense
Yale's defense is allowing an average of 8.5 goals per game. That is the lowest number in the Ivy League by far – all other Ivy schools are allowing 11 or more goals per game. The last time that Yale allowed that few goals per game over the course of an entire season was 2014, when the Bulldogs allowed just 123 goals in 15 games (8.20 per game).

Collignon Earns Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for Fourth Time
Sophomore attacker Jenna Collignon (Hinsdale, Ill.) earned the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week award for the fourth time Monday. She had four goals and three assists, tying her career high in points, in the 18-6 win at Brown Saturday. Collignon has been named to the Tewaaraton Award Women's Watch List and was an Honorable Mention ILWomen Midseason All-American. She leads the Ivy League in goals (35) and points (43). She has a 17 game point-scoring streak dating back to last season. The last time she was held without a point was Mar. 13, 2022 at Boston College.

Penoyer Sets Yale Career Assists Record
With four assists last Saturday at Brown, senior attacker Olivia Penoyer (Manlius, N.Y.) has set the Yale career assists record. Here are the top five:
  • Olivia Penoyer (90)
  • Laura Karmatz '95 (86)
  • Erin Porta '99 (78)
  • Sarah Queener '03 (66)
  • Nicole Piasecki '84 (66)
Penoyer had 37 assists last season, six shy of Karmatz' single-season school record (set in 1994).

Fallon Vaughn a Midseason All-American
Sophomore midfielder Fallon Vaughn (Concord, Mass.) joined sophomore attacker Jenna Collignon (Hinsdale, Ill.) to give Yale two Honorable Mention ILWomen Midseason All-Americans. Vaughn is tied for third in the Ivy League in caused turnovers (13) and is second on the Yale team in goals (21), having scored exactly three goals in each of the last five games. She is third on the team in points with 29.

Season High in Assists
Yale had a season high 10 assists in the 18-6 win at Brown Saturday. The last time the Bulldogs had that many assists in a game was when they also had 10 in the 24-14 win vs. Columbia Apr. 23, 2022.

Road Warriors
Tuesday is Yale's second road game in a stretch of eight days that includes three road games, with two of them against nationally ranked teams (at No. 14 Army Tuesday, at No. 22 Penn Saturday). The Bulldogs play five of their final six regular season games on the road.

Clearly Better
Yale is 176 for 191 (.921) on clears and has limited its opponents to a 149 for 187 (.797) performance on clears.

Tuesday Lacrosse
Tuesday is a light day for NCAA women's lacrosse action, but there are multiple games involving Yale's Ivy League rivals and also a game involving one of Yale's 2023 non-league opponents. Here is the complete list of Tuesday games:

5:00 p.m. Stonehill at Harvard

Scouting Army
Army (11-0, 5-0 Patriot League) is one of three unbeaten teams left in the nation, joining No. 1 Syracuse (13-0) and No. 3 Denver (11-0). The Black Knights' last loss was May 5, 2022, 16-6 to Navy in the Patriot League semifinals. They are 6-0 at home this season and have not lost a home game since Apr. 16, 2022 (16-7 against then-No. 6 Loyola Maryland). Yale snapped a 10 game winning streak for the Black Knights last year with a 20-15 win at Reese Stadium.
