Bulldogs Capture Cayuga Cup

Yale cruises to victory over No. 8 Syracuse, Cornell

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – It was another dominant day on the water for Yale women's crew. The Bulldogs, No. 3 in the latest CRCA national poll, swept No. 8 Syracuse and Cornell on Fish Creek, winning all five races.
 
In the varsity eight, Yale posted a time of 6:25.621, more than five seconds faster than second-place Syracuse (6:30.943). Cornell was third in 7:06.882. With the victory, the Bulldogs captured the Cayuga Cup.
 
The varsity eight was the closest race of the afternoon. The second varsity eight had a more than 15-second margin of victory over second-place Syracuse with a time of 6:30.551.
 
The varsity four had a similar result, winning with a time of 7:09.001. Syracuse was second in 7:24.022 followed by Cornell in 7:58.506.
 
The Bulldogs also won the third varsity eight in 6:42.005 and the second varsity four in 7:21.241.
 
"All of our crews raced well today," said Will Porter, the Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "There were great conditions for racing. We are slowly making progress with all of our lineups. I'm really proud of the team today."
 
Next up for the Bulldogs is a race against Radcliffe and Notre Dame next Saturday on the Charles River in Cambridge.
