NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Leo Boucher has joined the Yale sailing coaching staff as announced by Zachary Leonard, the McNay Family Director of Yale Sailing.
"We are really excited to welcome Leo to our program. He was a highly successful sailor at St. Mary's and is working hard to try to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team next summer," Leonard said. "We think Leo will bring a wealth of experience and wisdom to our sailors and I'm really looking forward to working with him."
Over the past several years, Boucher has coached high school sailing at the Annapolis Yacht Club in Maryland and served as the head laser sailing coach at the Severn Sailing Association. Additionally, Boucher has provided race and technical support to professional sailors in various classes on the Chesapeake Bay. He is also a member of the U.S. Sailing's Olympic Development Team.
Boucher earned a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland in economics and international language last spring. He also had great success as a four-year skipper for the Seahawks, earning ICSA All-America honors as a senior.
Boucher runs a small coaching and consulting high performance sailing training program, LWB Sailing, and he is also active with the Annapolis Yacht Club Foundation, where he helps to raise money for their junior sailing outreach program.
Boucher joins Leonard and associate head coach, Bill Healy, on the sailing staff.
