NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale sailing teams had a successful weekend of competition, winning two of their events and qualifying for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Final.
The women's team won the Stu Nelson at Connecticut College by a massive margin of 78 points. First-year skipper

Julia Miller won C division with a total of only 15 points after 10 races, finishing ahead of second place by 48 points. Skipper

Ximena Escobar won B division by 26 points, taking first place in most of their races. Skipper

Jessi Avila-Shah in A division had all single-digit finishes, ending up just two points out of first place for their division.

Ashley Highland sailed for the Yale team. On Saturday they faced tricky shifty conditions, with the wind coming out of the north ranging from 5-10 knots. On Sunday the breeze was oscillating out of the south-east at 7-10 knots with chop. The team finished in 8th place after 18 races, qualifying the team for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Final that will be held October 19-20th at Boston College.
The Yale team at the Sister Esther Trophy clinched first place by 36 points. The team competed in 14 races over the two days at Salve Regina, facing 6-14 knots of oscillating wind from the north on Saturday, and lighter conditions on Sunday from the north-east. Skipper Alex Adams and crew
