Yale Tied for First in the Nation in NCAA Graduation Success Rate

19 varsity teams post perfect scores

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale University Athletics tied for the best Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the country as the NCAA released its annual student-athlete graduation success report on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' GSR of 99 percent for student-athletes who began their college careers in 2017 tied Columbia, Harvard, Notre Dame and Santa Clara for first.

Yale's GSR has been 97 percent or better for all 14 years that the NCAA has announced the figure. The Bulldogs also led the nation in GSR in 2020, 2021 and 2023.

This year Yale had 19 teams with a perfect 100 percent GSR:

  • Women's basketball
  • Men's fencing
  • Field hockey
  • Women's golf
  • Gymnastics
  • Men's ice hockey
  • Women's ice hockey
  • Men's lacrosse
  • Women's lacrosse
  • Men's soccer
  • Women's soccer
  • Softball
  • Men's swimming and diving
  • Women's swimming and diving
  • Men's tennis
  • Women's tennis
  • Volleyball
"Our student-athletes have once again demonstrated their unwavering dedication to their academics, achieving one of the highest NCAA Graduation Success Rates in the country," said Victoria M. "Vicky" Chun, Yale's Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics. "This accomplishment reflects their hard work, resilience, and commitment to academic excellence."

All eight Ivy League schools achieved GSRs of at least 97 percent this year. As a conference, the Ivy League led the nation in GSR for the 14th consecutive year.

The NCAA's Graduation Success Rate includes transfer students and student-athletes who leave in good academic standing. The GSR measures graduation over six years from first-time college enrollment.
