Kosmont Sets New Yale Record at Giegengack Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The 17th Giegengack Invitational, Yale's last home meet of the season, was full of impressive performances. The hard work and dedication that the Bulldogs have been putting into their training was clearly illustrated by the many noteworthy performances -- including a school record -- Saturday at Coxe Cage.

Full results can be found here.
  • First year Juliette Kosmont broke the Yale record in the 60m dash, crossing the line in a time of 7.55 seconds. The record, last set in 2016 by Sydney Cureton, was previously 7.57 seconds.
  • Junior Larissa Giles and first year Sophie Spokes also both set personal records in the 60m and the 200m, an impressive feat. In the 400m, sophomore Molly Harding finished in a time of 57.41, securing the win. First year Lola Isom also set a PR in the 500m, earning second place with a time of 1:16.45.
  • The longer distance events were also filled with inspiring performances. First year Kalista Villatoro won the 800m race in a time of 2:14.97. In the mile, sophomore Linde Fonville and first year Hebe Chadwick finished in fourth and fifth, while junior Kylie Goldfarb set a massive personal record in the same event, dropping nearly seven seconds to finish in a time of 5:01.25. In the 3k, sophomore Miranda Lorsbach and senior Kathryn Rodrigues were just seconds off their PRs, while sophomore Marina Carlos shaved five seconds off of her own personal best to finish in a time of 10:41.68.
  • Captain Bella Bergloff finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.04m. In the jumping events, junior Dominique Romain flew 5.73m in the long jump, securing third place for Yale. In the pole vault, senior Eileen Yang tied her PR, clearing a height of 3.85m and taking second place in the event. Junior Sophie Wright set a PR in the triple jump, soaring 11.69m as Yale's top finisher and taking fourth place.
The Bulldogs will not see any competition next weekend. However, they will use this time to continue to gear up for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, which will be hosted by Harvard on Feb. 24-25 at the Gordon Indoor Track up in Cambridge.
