CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Yale women's track and field team set the tone on the first day of the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships hosted by Harvard at the Gordon Indoor Track. The Bulldogs' results were highlighted by Yale records in the 60m and weight throw, with other top performances throughout the day as well.

- Senior Maria Leskovec set a personal best in the weight throw with a massive distance of 18.35m, earning fifth place in the event and breaking the school record. Leskovec becomes Yale's first woman ever to throw over 60 feet in the event.
- In an impressive run, first year Juliette Kosmont broke her own school record in the 60m with a time of 7.52 seconds. Kosmont will be racing in the 60m finals on Sunday after automatically qualifying with a second-place finish in her heat.
- In another Yale all-time top-10 performance, senior Eileen Yang set a PR in the pole vault, finishing fourth in the event after clearing a height of 4.00m. This height, which converts to 13 feet 1.5 inches, is Yale's second-highest mark ever in the pole vault.
- In the long jump, junior Dominique Romain flew 5.85m, finishing in sixth place and scoring for the Bulldogs.
- First year Gloria Guerrier secured a spot in the finals of the 500m by winning her heat in 1:13.95. First year Victoria Guerrier is also through to the finals, in the 800m after finishing second in her heat with a time of 2:10.63. First year Kalista Villatoro set a PR in the same event, crossing the line in a time of 2:12.81. In the 1k, sophomore Linde Fonville dipped below 2:50 to finish in 2:49.91, a time that secured her spot in the finals.
- Senior Kyra Pretre was an automatic qualifier for the finals in the mile after finishing third in her heat in a time of 4:49.82.
After Saturday's five concluded events, Yale (seven points) is tied for sixth place with Penn and just two points behind fifth-place Cornell. The Ivy League Heptagonal Championships continue on Sunday and will feature the finals of the majority of the individual track events and relays as well as several field events (high jump, triple jump and shot put).
