NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale men's track and field team competed at the Yale Springtime Invitational on Sunday. Buoyed by the home track advantage, the Bulldogs showed out in their final meet before the Ivy League "Heps" Championships next weekend. 

The Bulldogs:

• Chris Ward kicked things off in impressive fashion as he dominated the shot put competition, winning thanks to a mark of 18.00m ahead of team captain Matt Appel in second. That order was later reversed in the discus throw, where Appel's 53.72m was good enough for the win ahead of Ward's 51.31m in second and Nolan Recker's 49.04m in third.
• The Bulldogs were also well-represented in the hammer throw. Jake Sun's 56.15m effort put him third, with Chu Anueyiagu in sixth and Alex Sundberg in seventh. 
• On the track, it was Benny Seidman who continued the momentum as he won the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 10:01.63. Fellow first years Caden Montini and Jack Diaz placed second and fifth in the 1500m. 
• Over the 800m, it was Thomas Cirrito and Brian Gamble who led the way as Yale went 1-2. Cirrito ran a lightning-fast 1:49.47, with Gamble's 1:50.72 representing an impressive new PR. Behind, there were collegiate PRs for Ronan Luff, Montini and Antonio Bravo, with first year Liam Sullivan also in action. 
• In the sprints, Malcolm Grant completed a strong double over 100m and 200m. He placed fifth over the shorter distance and second in the 200m with times of 11.23 and 22.51 respectively. Teammate Shaun Gold was also in action in the 100m. 
• Elliot Wessel capped off the day with a narrow victory in the pole vault, jumping 4.35m.
