CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Yale women's sailing team placed second at the ICSA Women's Team Race National Championship in Boston. Finishing behind only Stanford, this result crowned the team Ivy League Champions, having beaten all of their conference rivals.
The Bulldogs won their third consecutive Ivy championship and are the only title holders in conference history since the award was only inaugurated in 2022.
Conditions were trying on the Charles River. Facing light and shifty conditions on Saturday, Yale faced some unexpected early losses to Harvard, Penn, and Dartmouth. After a trying day of sailing and a 7-4 record, the team finished fifth in the round robin stage and managed to squeak through to the final six.
In the round of six, the Yale team was near perfect — finishing 4-1, with only one loss to Stanford. This was enough to send the team through to the final four, where the Bulldogs beat Dartmouth and Boston College in dramatic victories and cinched second place and the Ivy trophy.
